The Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 9-5 in ALDS Game 4 on Thursday at Rate Field, tying the best-of-five series at 2-2. Cleveland trailed 2-0 before Patrick Bailey pinch-hit a solo homer off Erick Fedde to start a three-run fifth. José Ramírez followed with a two-run homer off Jordan Hicks for a 3-2 lead. Chicago answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Sam Antonacci was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Brenton Doyle added a sacrifice fly for a 4-3 White Sox edge.
The Guardians scored six runs in the sixth against Grant Taylor. Bailey's RBI single broke a 4-4 tie. Ramírez added a two-run single, and Jo Adell's two-run liner to right made it 9-4. Miguel Vargas homered in the ninth for Chicago before Gavin Williams recorded the final three outs in his first career relief appearance. Erik Sabrowski earned the win. Cleveland won on the road for the second straight day after dropping the first two games at home. Game 5 is Saturday at Progressive Field at 8 p.m. Eastern on TBS and truTV. The winner opens the ALCS at Tampa Bay on Monday.
