In Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, Jake Bauers delivered a stunning two-run homer that propelled the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
This win puts the Brewers one game away from their first World Series berth since 1982.
Bauers' homer came in the seventh inning, turning a one-run deficit into a one-run lead.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy praised Bauers, stating, 'Incredible at-bat.'
The game started with a bang as Jackson Chourio hit a home run off Blake Snell's first pitch, giving the Brewers an early lead.
Chourio's blast marked the anniversary of his first-pitch homer against the Dodgers in last year's NLCS.
Snell, a two-time Cy Young winner, struck out nine and retired 14 straight batters before the seventh inning.
However, after Andrew Vaughn worked a leadoff walk, Bauers stepped up to the plate.
Bauers, who had a career year during the regular season, focused on getting on base.
He faced a tough battle against Snell, taking 11 pitches before connecting on a belt-high fastball.
Bauers launched the ball 412 feet into the bleachers, igniting the Brewers' dugout.
Snell acknowledged Bauers' talent, saying, 'It's the best I've ever seen him play.'
Bauers is now just the second player since 1988 to reach base twice in the same postseason after plate appearances of at least 11 pitches.
The Brewers continued to build on their lead, with Garrett Mitchell hitting a mammoth 428-foot shot to end Snell's night.
Closer Trevor Megill secured the win with a four-out save, leaving the Dodgers' quest for a three-peat in jeopardy.
The Brewers aim to become the first team to sweep an opponent that previously swept them in a postseason series. The Dodgers hope to be the first team to come back from a three-game deficit in a Championship Series since the 2004 Red Sox beat the Yankees to advance to the World Series.
Game 4 is set for Thursday at 8pm ET, when the Brewers could clinch a pennant for the first time in 44 years.
